Confronting the Fear of Life and Death
Full Moon in Scorpio 7:48 pm a 4/23/24 4 degrees 17 minutes
This Full Moon cycle brings the recent Solar eclipse energy into full view. The eclipse began a brand new cycle in Aries, during which many of us shifted our perspective from outside of ourselves to the inside. Now, two weeks later, the energies have shifted subtly. The nodal axis is still halfway through the signs of Libra and Aries, indicating that we are at the most intense part of the evolution from focusing on the world outside ourselves to focusing on our own inner worlds.
Sun opposed Moon
The Full Moon cycle finds us integrating the Taurus-Scorpio axis, which involves integrating and understanding the balance between life and death. It is a deeply seated and intense fear of individuals and the collective. Survival is associated with the Taurus archetype, while Scorpio characterizes by death and rebirth, or metamorphosis. Scorpio is also associated with the soul, which cannot experience death but can only change forms. It does this in a multidimensional form from lifetime to lifetime.
With the Moon in Scorpio, we examine the penetration of our psyches and transmutation of our self-identity and emotional security, or lack thereof. It is a time of looking inward deeply to scrutinize what we fear associated with life and death. Where have we exercised excessive protection or hidden our emotions away due to fear? This fear can keep us separated from living life to the fullest.
At the same time, the Sun is in Taurus, shining its light on our creative self-actualization and purpose through embracing life and surviving. When we put too much emphasis on self-protection by hiding our emotions and not addressing our fears, we cannot embrace life fully.
Integration of these extremes leads to a balance of living life to the fullest and taking the appropriate precautions to achieve continued survival. Scorpio teaches us that everything is impermanent and that we don't have control over this realm. We often experience loss, abandonment, and betrayal in our life's experience. Frequently, it leads us to hold back to protect ourselves from the pain. We become emotionally frozen and too fearful to meet life to the fullest extent. This scrutiny and integration of our fears concerning life and death will ultimately lead us to an emotional regeneration.
Sun Square Pluto
The Sun in Taurus reflects that we have become overly fixated on our survival concerning the need to break free from our emotional limitations associated with the outer control of our societal systems. When we place control outside ourselves, we do not gain inner resilience to life's ebbs and flows. We remain fearful. Most societies use fear as a mechanism of population control, and we have been flooded with fear for generations. It has led us to the emotionally frozen and closed heart chakra state of a compromised Aquarius/Leo axis. It is a last quarter square, a crisis in consciousness square, where we are breaking free from this norm in an individuation process and activating the polarity point of Leo: to thaw the heart and live life to our fullest creative expression.
Pluto square Moon
The Moon is also in the last quarter square with Pluto. Again, this type of square outlines a breaking away from the constraints of the consensus system and encourages us to align with our own truth. Depending on where we are in our evolution, this can be difficult because we risk alienation. On the emotional level, this can be difficult to tolerate.
The sign Scorpio refers to both empowerment and disempowerment. Empowerment comes from being vulnerable enough to merge with another to share resources, thus empowering both. Generally, with Scorpio, we have been hurt in intimate relationships. It is often difficult to trust enough to expose our soft underbellies again, yet this is what it takes to empower ourselves and overcome the frozen state.
With the Moon in Scorpio, we are learning to be vulnerable enough to merge with our own sense of inner security. We are learning to trust ourselves. Square to Pluto in Aquarius, we attempt to evolve toward our own individuality, thus leaving trust in the outer world as we learn to trust ourselves. It creates an internal crisis, a crisis in consciousness. Do we believe in the messaging of the outer world, or do we believe in ourselves?
Pluto in Aquarius
Pluto has advanced a degree in the sign of Aquarius, helping us to confront and transform our individuality. It is where we begin to explore our hearts and unique purpose and learn how to embrace joy in our lives. Pluto is the backdrop, or the undercurrent or rudder of the energy shift. We are completing the cycle of being guided by outdated societal structures and perpetuated fear. Pluto has one more pass to the last degree of Capricorn in November. Pluto in Aquarius guides us to break away from the constrictions of realities imposed upon us, helping us become familiar with our true selves.
Pluto Square Venus and Sun
Venus and the Sun are in a closing phase. The Sun in Taurus reflects self-sustainability, self-reliance, and a focus on individual values and needs. Venus in Aries reflects the need to birth a new evolutionary intention of self-discovery concerning values, needs, and a new way of relating to ourselves and others. It is the energy of taking a new direction of attuning to the self. It can create feelings of anxiety that occur with anything new. And because Venus also rules Libra, it also points to a new way of relating to others. It can put a strain on existing relationships.
With Venus in Aries closing with the Sun, it depicts the completion of the showing up to the attunement process to the self. It signals the imminent internalization of a new cycle of self-sufficiency.
Pluto Sextile Neptune
As Neptune makes its way through its own sign of Pisces, it dissolves everything in its path. Pisces often refers to the totality of all that is. In human terms, it can relate to aligning with a higher meaning beyond that of the physical world. When Neptune is in Pisces, we often feel disillusioned about what was. There can be confusion and the desire to disassociate due to the extreme emotional flooding that can take place. Ultimately, it helps us align with the Source's higher meaning.
The sextile to Pluto in Aquarius refers to the support that the dissolving of reality gives to breaking free from the constraints of what was. In this case, we are talking about the structure of our societal system and the rules and regulations that limit our ability to individuate.
Pluto Trine Jupiter
The trine aspect refers to the flow of energy that allows for conscious integration. In this case, the direction of evolution for each of us and humanity as a whole is toward individuation, which means becoming our true selves. Jupiter in Taurus refers to the expansion of our ability to survive, the expansion of the ability to move our consciousness into the bodies, not through the linear left brain, but through the imaginative and intuitive right brain.
Mars conjunct Neptune closing phase
Mars is the planet that is associated with our ability to act on our soul's desire. It is the desire nature of Pluto in the earthly realm. It is the subjective state of awareness and acts upon our instinctual drives toward a continuous state of becoming.
Mars in Pisces refers to the culmination of a direction of instinctual becoming. In other words, These past drives are in a state of senescence. Evolutionarily speaking, the drives of the past are no longer part of the evolutionary direction.
Mars in Pisces conjunct Neptune in Pisces shows us that our old ways of being are still dissolving. We may not feel like doing what we have done, but we continue to go through the motions because Neptune still needs to wipe the slate clean.
Mars conjunct Saturn new phase
Saturn in Pisces refers to learning to align emotional reality with a culmination. Pisces represents the end of a cycle. When we have culminated something, we have a bird' s-eye view of the cycle. We have learned the higher meaning of what the cycle entailed. We have gained experience and a sense of emotional resilience from living through the cycle. Saturn, through Pisces, is giving us inner strength through living through these times and allowing us to find a deeper meaning.
When Mars made its conjunction with Saturn, he picked up the emotional resilience necessary to complete the cycle. It is the desire to break free from the constraints and limitations of the previous cycle, evolve into our individual selves, and come together in a new cycle of humanity.
Mars, in a new phase conjunction with Saturn in Pisces, points out that this Plutonian desire to break free from the constraints of the societal norm requires us to realign our actions to an emotional maturity that aligns with a higher meaning from Source.
Saturn inconjunct SN
As we complete our crystalized emotional cycle, we are still experiencing the crises associated with the old way we have related to others. This will require an internal adjustment, which the Sun in Taurus offers.
Mars sextile Jupiter Uranus conjunction
Mars in Pisces, now armed with a growing sense of emotional maturity and resilience to complete the culmination of a cycle of restriction, Mars supports the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction by beginning a new cycle of expansion in truth about our survival and breaking free from outdated survival practices.
NN, Mercury, Chiron, Venus conjunction
This conjunction takes place in the sign of Aries, where we are initiating a new evolutionary cycle. The NN, our future sense of self and emotional security has begun a new phase to the rest of the conjunction. Mercury retrograde opposes the SN, exhibiting that this past process of aligning ourselves with others for our perceptions needs another look.
The Mercury retrograde and Chiron conjunction refers to a reexamination of our left brain thought processes and how we perceive and communicate our reality. The conjunction with Chiron shows us how we have been wounded by the initiation to think for ourselves. Yet this is our destiny, and we must overcome fear to heal.
Venus is in a new phase to Chiron and the NN while in a closing phase with Mercury retrograde, depicting that the reevaluation of our thoughts and communication is what we need to change how we attune ourselves to reality.
Venus, in a new phase to Chiron and the NN, shows us that changing what we need and what we value helps us to align with our future emotional security and sense of self. It heals the karmic wounding of the past that has deterred us from stepping into our individuated selves.
Venus conjunct Sun closing phase
Venus in Aries outlines a way of attuning to a more spontaneous life. She requires freedom to act upon the various situations and relationships that may arise. She explores how we can relate to ourselves and others differently to survive. In the past, we have lived a highly structured life. In a closing phase to the Sun in Taurus, Venus in Aries incorporates the newly acquired experiences into our expression of survival to make them part of us.
Jupiter Uranus conjunction new phase
Jupiter and Uranus had an exact conjunction two days ago, on the twenty-first of April. This is a big deal because the last time Jupiter and Uranus made a connection in Taurus was in the spring of 1941, a few months before Pearl Harbor Day, which brought the United States into WWII. At the time of the conjunction, the world was full of conflict.
The energy of Jupiter in Taurus is about expanding our ability to survive. It includes the expansion of our values, needs, and beliefs. It expands our ability to align our survival with natural law or the right-brained, more intuitive side of reality. Until now, we followed the world outside us in a left-brained, ordered, and controlled way. It has been a societal structure that determines all the facets of human life, from how we relate to others to how we are programmed through the mass media and beyond.
Pluto, through Capricorn, helped us confront and transmute our emotional attachment to society's structures that are no longer useful for our evolution.
Uranus in Taurus refers to breaking free from structures that are no longer helpful for survival. It also relates to electricity, long-term memory, and trauma. When something shocking happens, our systems revert to fight or flight, which allows us to defend ourselves from inherent threats. If the trauma is not processed emotionally, it gets buried and becomes unprocessed trauma. It then continues to exert a response when triggered by similar stimuli.
The conjunction begins a new cycle between expanding the truth about our survival and breaking free from outdated survival practices and traumatic experiences. I expect a rapid change in reality that will lead us to expand our intuition about survival and help us move into our bodies.
What does it all mean?
This shift we all experienced during the Eclipse season has catapulted us from a world of outer focus to our unique inner worlds. We began learning to anchor ourselves into our bodies during the intense Solar eclipse, and now we are starting to do a deep dive into our trauma.
Generations of focusing outside of ourselves to survive and follow the lead of others, our political and religious leaders, teachers, bosses, and lovers have kept us from developing our inner guidepost. We haven't gained the emotional resiliency and maturity that one gains from stirring one's own ship.
The Universe guides us to break free from the past and anchor ourselves into our bodies. We are getting a complete overhaul of thoughts, values, and beliefs. Where our worlds are mainly external, we now shift to the internal.
The Uranus-Jupiter conjunction is a big deal. The last time these two signs were in Taurus, WWII broke out. Currently, conflicts between countries are increasing in the outer world.
Turning inward to resolve our own inner trauma and conflict can only help the outer world. This Full Moon in Scorpio is asking us to do just that. Why are we so afraid of death, loss, abandonment, and betrayal? We have attuned to a culture that controls everything, which is what we have learned. As a result, we have forgotten how to live, experience joy, and reclaim our inner child.
